Welcome

Tees Valley Living is the partnership set up in 2003 to lead and co-ordinate housing market renewal in the Tees Valley.

We have now compiled the evidence base which shows the nature and challenge of housing market failure in the sub-region.

The areas to emerge as Housing Market Renewal priorities closely match the areas with highest deprivation. Four of the ten poorest council wards out of 8,400 nationally can be found along a five mile stretch of the River Tees at Thorntree, Pallister, St Hilda's and Grangetown.

Tees Valley local authorities were allocated over £31.55m between them for housing market renewal in 2006-08 and a further £50m is to be invested over the next 3 years - made up of £35m from the Government and £15.4m from the Regional Housing Board's Single Housing Investment Pot.

Tees Valley Living sees Housing Market Renewal as a fundamental part of the wider economic regeneration of the Tees Valley city region and this money is part of a total package of £64m made available to Tees Valley for housing related activities as part of wider regeneration proposals.

We have started a huge job by engaging the interest and support of our communities and the private sector and are now well placed to deliver sustainable communities with new homes in which people want to stay, forming new communities that will attract new residents and investors.
