Tees Valley Living is made up of representatives of the five Tees Valley councils, local registered social landlords and the private sector in the form of the Home Builders Federation and Tees Valley Regeneration. Board meetings are also attended by representatives from Government Office North East, One NorthEast, English Partnerships and the Housing Corporation.
What we doOur brief is to address the housing market failure in Tees Valley (Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees) and deal with the problem of an excess of obsolete housing.
We have made a start but there is a long way to go. Our strategy aims to create a network of sustainable communities with the demolition of almost 5,500 houses in strategic locations and their replacement with more than 5,000 modern homes and therefore change the character of the neighbourhoods with housing market failure. For this we must make a case for funding and attract private sector resources.
